"The ARCS Model (Keller, 1984) is a method for improving the motivational appeal of instructional materials. It has three distinctive features. First, it contains four conceptual categories that subsume many of the specific concepts and variables that characterize human motivation. Second, it includes sets of strategies to use to enhance the motivational appeal of instruction. And third, it incorporates a systematic design process, called motivational design (Keller, 1987), that can be used effectively with traditional instructional design models."
